    Online Encyclopedias

    • Wikipedia is much like Online Dictionaries, but delves deeper into each topic. While the reliability of Wikipedia as an informative resource might be inherently questionable since virtually anyone can edit a Wiki page, it's still a fantastic resource for a basic search for educational research (that is, anything non-political or controversial).
    • About.Com is also another user-contributed resource, although it has a stricter filtering system than Wikipedia. Its writers are labeled as "Guides" and undergo screening before their writing is published.
    • Answers.Com is more Wiki-style with its user-supported content database, but it is set up in a questions-and-answers type structure (as opposed to Wikipedia's topics and subtopics structure).

    Three Simple Steps

Resourcefulness can be broken down into three simple steps.

    1. There is something you don't understand. Usually you can gauge whether it's a basic question or a complex one.
    2. If it's a basic question, try looking up the answer using key words and phrases.
    3. If it's a complex question, try seeing what you can find by searching for key words and phrases. Then, if you still can't find the answer, ask a co-worker, fellow team member, or even your boss, armed with what info you were able to find (regardless if it answered your question properly or not).
